Prepping Your Roof for the Holidays
As we put up holiday lights on our homes, there are a few tips to keep you safe while taking a quick look at the condition of your roof this winter. Since you’re already up there hanging lights, it’s an excellent opportunity to check on how your roof is doing.
Use Proper Precautions
Always be safe when climbing up on your roof. Especially when the weather is cooler, and the snow has fallen, it can be easy to slip and fall. Always have someone else with you just in case of an emergency. A helper can also reduce the amount of movement you’ll do on the roof, lowering the chances of a slip and fall. Move cautiously while on the roof, and make sure you’re using the right-sized ladder.
Inspect the Roof
Inspecting your roof at least once a year is recommended to ensure it’s still in good condition. Since you’re already up there to hang lights, look for missing or slipping shingles, pooling, or other visual issues. If you notice something is wrong, calling in the professionals before it becomes a big problem can save you a headache in the future.
Inspect the Gutters
While on your roof, check on your gutters to ensure they aren’t blocked or clogged. Fall weather means a lot of blowing leaves, so your gutters could be full without you knowing. Clogged gutters can lead to pooling water on the roof, so it’s an excellent opportunity to take care of that before spring.
Wishing You a Happy Holidays
From our Optik Roofing family to yours, we hope you have a wonderful holiday season. We’re thankful for your business and look forward to serving you in the coming year. Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!
